Connaught Hill Park used to have a ski jump

In 1922 City council agreed to allow the use of Connaught Hill for tobogganing. The city snow plow was used to build a slide with boys completing the project.

Fran Gibbons recalled that in the 1940s and 1950s, "there used to be a sort of a jump on Connaught Hill and the better skiers skied there. The rest of us skied more cross country skiing out into the foothills and so on. We used to have a little ski club with one of the teachers here and my sister and I and two or three of our friends, boys and girls. Every Sunday we'd take a lunch and ski out across the wooden bridge, up the hill to the Hart Highway, around and in behind the cutbanks..."
