Heritage Fair

The Prince George Regional Heritage Fair is part of a national program sponsored by Historica. The program is intended to encourage school children understand and apprciate their heritage. Students select a topic to research and complete a project on Canadian Heritage.

School-based fairs happen between February and May each year with the best projects being selected to go on to a provincial fair during the second week of May. The best projects from each province are selected for presentation at the National Fair that is hosted by a different city each year in July. The 2008 National Fair is being held in Victoria, British Columbia July 7 – 14.

The Next Prince George Regional Heritage Fair to be announced. Historica is currently involved in efforts to expand the Heritage Fair program in BC, at the community and regional level, with the goal of ultimately establishing a provincial fair. The regional fairs in BC are held on the second weekend in May.

Historica is a foundation whose mandate is to provide Canadians with a deeper understanding of their history and its importance in shaping their future.
