Canfor Atrium
This beautiful, glassed in space showcases wood, multi media and beautiful Fort George Park. With a daylight projector, podium, sound system and multimedia capabilities, the Canfor Atrium is our most popular rental space within the facility. Seating is available auditorium style for 150 and for a dinner function, approximately 120 people can be accommodated.
Galleries
If an interactive hands-on area is what your guests are looking for, the Explorations Gallery is the perfect addition to your rental. Live animal exhibit components are a feature of the Explorations Gallery. The addition of a crawl through beaver damn with adjacent live turtle pond is very popular with our youngest visitors. The Children’s Museum Gallery aimed at the youngest visitors is soft introduction to history and science in an active hands-on environment. A reconstructed paddlewheel boat is an active play and discovery structure. Children may wear historic costumes while engaged in the many activities available such as digging for dinosaur bones or building a river system to float boats down in the large flowing water tank.
The Citizen Sports Machine
The Sports Hall of fame is our recent addition and contains our very cool Citizen Sports machine. This interactive machine has 5 sports a visitor can actually play hockey, soccer, football, basketball and baseball. This machine measures things such as accuracy and speed and has proven to be a very popular addition to our museum. There is also a punching bag, boxing display and many other hands on and “body on” activities. The Ted Williams History hall has been fully renovated and now simulates an actual billiards hall environment.
Wm. W. Kordyban Learning Centre
This area is perfect for accommodating large or small groups. The Kordyban Learning Centre is a great area for a buffet style meal, or a set up area for caterers. For smaller functions, this area can accommodate small round table meetings or an eating area.
Boardroom
If a smaller, more quiet place is needed for your function, our boardroom might be what you need. As many as 20 people can be accommodated as well as daytime and evening meetings. Caterings is at the discretion of the renter. We have a coffee machine, mugs, sugar and a teakettle in the room for your convenience.

- There will be a charge of $5.00 per mug for any missing or damaged mugs. All rates are subject to change without notice.
Renter Responsibility
Setup and Cleanup
Setup of the event shall not begin prior to The Exploration Place’s closing time, unless by special permission of the Facility Rentals Department. Closing time is 5pm, 7 days a week. There will be 1 hour on top of your rental time to set up, if extra time is needed, and additional $25.00 per hour will be charged. Teardown must occur immediately after the event and all décor items removed from the building. If this is not possible, arrangements can be made to have items left overnight. However, they must be picked up the following morning between 9:30am and 11:00am.
Signage and Décor
All signage and décor brought in must be free standing. Signage and décor on exhibits and walls are not permitted. Signage and décor may be displayed on hooks placed in The Exploration Place’s ceiling beams. The use of sparklers and/or candles is prohibited.
Use of alcohol
If you will be serving alcohol at your event, you are responsible for acquiring a Liquor Licence and Host Liquor Liability Insurance. A Liquor Licence can be purchased at any local Liquor Store. The Host Liquor Liability Insurance can be purchased at Porter and McMillan Insurance. A person that holds a Serving it Right certificate must be present at the event. The Exploration Place requires photo copies of all 3 documents.
Use of The Exploration Place’s Equipment and Supplies
A security deposit of $500.00 will be taken before the rental date. Any Exploration Place property or equipment damaged will be compensated through the $500 deposit.
