Radar images, thermal images, and specialized filter images are teaching us new ways to look at our planet, and helping us avoid problems in the woods.

In the late 1950s, aerial photos had little detail. Gradually, technology has made more and more information available. Weather prediction has improved. Natural disasters and ones caused by people can often be quickly and precisely mapped.

Today, detailed images from space are available on the Internet at ceonet.gc.ca or www.spaceimaging.com.
